“TELL ME WHY” Declan Galbraith
Tell me why does it have to be like this?
Tell me why is there something I have missed?
Tell me why cuz I don’t understand

We don’t give a helping hand

AN INTERNATIONAL CRI DE COEUR FOR DONORS
I hope there are donors out there who will join me in helping my African friends not only with money but with their time and energy directed to any or all of the four persons whose contact details are here. They desperately need mature, caring persons to talk with, to advise them, be next to them in their daily struggles to survive. So please give money but along with that, give yourself, who you are, to help our Africans not only survive but come to thrive with your care that helps them help themselves.
WHY I INTIMATELY DONATE TO HELP 28 AFRICAN PERSONS HELP THEMSELVES TO SURVIVE.
“We are the Lessons learned from the Tests of Time dispensed by Life. The ultimate Test is Loss. The Lesson you have Learned from Loss is Who You Are.” Jack Carney
I have learned the “Lesson of Loss” and I help when the unique call to care comes my way. I do not donate to big charities because I want to see where and to whom, my money goes. I want a personal, intimate connection. This is what I have achieved with these 4 African families I have been donating to and supporting for three years. I also find it more satisfying if I can feed not only their bodies but also their minds, thus when able they attend my ongoing Tutorial, The Philosophy of Responsible Freedom https://www.responsiblyfreeschool.com/academy-of-ideas.
I met these 4 families by chance on Facebook and established a close connection with the three young men and one woman who were the heads of their families. I became intimately involved in these 4 families lives as we communicated sometimes daily on WhatsApp. I accompanied them through relationship violence, suicide attempts, sudden bulldozing of their homes by criminal governments, emergency heart and brain operations to save their lives, and introducing and enabling them to use Chlorine Dioxide to survive the contaminated water and environment they have had to cope with.
I have, serendipitously, taken on the responsibility for helping to feed, house, keep healthy and free 28 bodies and their minds. Some of them might be dead or in pauper’s prison now were it not for my help over the past three years. I am pleased that I have consistently cared for them and I know they care for me beyond the money. Over these three years, I have given over $18,000USD and countless hours of verbal and written support including setting up two Facebook pages and an International donation page.

I discovered how life-threateningly limited were their responses in dealing with their all too often life-death challenges. Coming from small villages of subsistence farming or city slums, they did not have the range of experiences and education to help them deal better with—to survive—the catastrophic events that so unexpectedly, and so often, suddenly comet-crashed down upon them. They needed help to learn how to reason, learn new life skills, to more effectively respond to their daily emergencies. I listened as they screamed, wept and went silent. They needed, as we all do, that human connection, the Human Touch.

Tell me in a world without pity
Do you think what I'm askin's too much?
I just want something to hold on to
And a little of that human touch
Just a little of that human touch

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Kenya, cases of gender-based violence exploded. But a combination of fear, stigma and a lack of trust in the police mean the majority of cases are never reported. It has been described as Kenya’s ‘hidden epidemic’. Africa Eye reporter Tom Odula investigates the deep-seated roots behind the violence, discovers the trauma behind the shocking statistics, and explores the police and government inaction that leaves survivors with little hope of justice.
FAMILY DETAILS
TWO NIGERIAN FAMILIES, TOTAL 14 PERSONS: TOTAL DONATION $5,500USD
$2,800USD to buy a parcel of farmland; $2,700USD for building materials, equipment, seeds, animals, etc. to start up a subsistence farm. This will allow 14 persons to feed themselves in relative safety and escape from their dangerous, hard to survive in, Lagos city where they now rent rooms (the house before this I gave them money to rent and was comfortable, was bulldozed down without warning to make room for a real estate development) in an area with dangerous drinking water that has killed 3 in their community. They live under daily threat from government criminals and private criminals, going hungry most days, unable to get enough work to feed themselves and pay their rent.

TWO KENYAN FAMILIES, TOTAL 14 PERSONS: TOTAL DONATION $4,500USD
$6,000USD for the farmland including a house, animals, crops, etc.; $1,000USD extras to move, set up the farm, buy tools and household items, Total: $7,000
The two families are going to sell their houses/properties in the rural villages and both combined can get $2,500USD for them; thus they need a total: $4,500USD. This will allow two families to move from their native subsistence farming villages which threaten their freedom and have proved incapable of sustaining them in the past few years, to this relatively safe farmland where they can live and work together. The heads of their families, Debora and Oliva, will be married and living together at last which was not possible before due to tribal customs.

MESSAGES FROM KENYA--OLIVER AND DEBORA (I have left most of the errors and the words are mainly as messaged me on WhatsApp.)
DEBORAH “On Friday, Oliver went to work in a construction site. By bad luck, a timber hit his head from a storey. He has received some treatment on his head . We have spend dearly and I'm even worried how we gonna survive . I didn't have even money to purchase data to contact you. Thank you for your concern They did scanning in his head and find out something like Hematoma. The doctor advised us oliver has osteomyelitis infection and brain herniations. he told us doing surgery can help him because of the brain dramage The surgery is so expensive and we can't afford it .we will just use the medicine we have and the CD here. The surgery and all inclusive am told will cost as around as 2000usd which is too much expensive for us we trust oliver will be okay.” [Note: I negotiated with the hospital and got them to do the operation for $500usd which I paid for with Bitcoin; the other $1,500usd is to be paid within one year. The operation was a success and saved Oliver’s life.]
OLIVER (I asked him to write something to go along with my posting on Telegram Anarchist/Voluntaryist/Libertarian groups for donations. Not one of these Liberty Lovers donated.)
“Hello free friends, I'm Oliver Juma from Kenya. I'm 26 years old and I feel good we are connected here. I want to thank Jack Carney who is my good free friend for helping me understand on how remain free and responsible in my country. However, being responsible and staying free in my village has been the hardest task that I'm struggling with because of the primitive culture and customs that my family and are forced to follow. It has been my desire to move out of my village and find a better place where i can stay free from the evil government, primitive culture of my village and being controlled by local authorities. I humbly request for guidance and support because I'm being forced to engage in what i don't want and failure to do what i have mentioned may lead me in trouble. If all goes well i will also help my family come out of it. I wanted to introduce another free generation with your help and guidance. Together with Deb we are very hopeful that it will come to happen. It is our desire to start a new life that is free. Our main challenge is finance. If could have finance we can even purchase a bigger land, start a private school and teach our people what you have been teaching us. You can also meet them on zoom or if one day you can have that courage you can come and teach them phisically. Let's keep our hope alive. Thank you. Your free friend, Oliver.”
MESSAGES FROM NIGERIA--STEVE AND GBENGA (I have left most of the grammatical and spelling errors and the words are mainly as messaged me on WhatsApp.)
GBENGA (This was written by him when his community was suffering from contaminated water that ended by killing three in his community and I was trying to get donations for drilling a well.)
“Hello i ’ m Adekoya Gbenga from Africa,Lagos state, ojodu Berger,Nigeria. I ’ m 24 years old of age .There are 6 people in my family which consist of my I, mother, and my 4 younger ones. I lost my father few years ago.
I got in touched with my good friend Mr Jack few years ago when I was leaning my fashion work on Facebook and he has been a very good free friend and mentor to I, my family and my friend Steve who stay close to my house and his family as well. Mr Jack has been so supportive to us both medically and financially which makes him a good philanthropist to us all. Moreover, Mr Jack has been a good friend and as done so much to the two families, he thought us a lot of things which the two families benefits from it most especially during the covid period. My main purpose of writing this letter is to cry out our pains to the world and what we have been going through in our community which makes us lose few people in the community due to bad water supply. I am speaking on behalf of the community and myself to everyone reading the message to please assist us with little donations because we found out that the bad water supply as been the reason why we are losing our people which they government had done nothing about.”
STEVE (This was written recently—November 2022—in response to my asking him to tell potential donors how his life has been.)
“it's haven't been so easy with us here, I struggle to get food to eat in past years hoping things would get better for once but seems to get worse. As at December 29th 2020 I lost my mom, she has been sick for over 1 year and there was no body to help out no food no money to get her proper treatment, she had strokes 3 times and some other sickness attached to it, It saddens me everytime I remember, the hospital wouldn't give free treatment. My mom did at 4 O'clock am midnight, I got a call from my brother. ever since my mother died things began to get hard, the country economy itself and the government,a bad and selfish government. Right now we struggle to get food ,we only eat most times 1 square meal, no job opportunities, getting a labouring also is a bad idea, we don't get paid mostly we can get arrested if we ask for payment . In our community many died of hunger and bad water .
we once lived in a place where it was demolished without notice.. it's been a very bad and though time for us . we plan to buy a land and start our own farming so we can grow out food.”
